About the Opportunity
Blitz has a variety of exciting K-12 projects located in Sonoma County and is seeking a Project Architect to assist with the design, documentation and construction administration of these projects. The ideal candidate will be located in Sonoma County or willing to attend, a minimum, weekly on-site meetings in Sonoma County. This is a hybrid role with the candidate primarily working remote (if not within a 30-minute drive of the San Francisco studio) and being in-person in the San Francisco studio one day every other week. While the project work will be focused on K-12 projects, the candidate will also assist in the design, documentation and construction administration of Blitz’s other project typologies which may be in Sonoma County, the Bay Area or across the globe.
At Blitz, Project Architects have a minimum of ten year’s experience and are designers who lead projects from concept design through construction, in collaboration with the project team. They play a critical role in coordinating architectural drawings with particular focus on constructability, code compliance, coordination with external partners, and implementation of the Blitz delivery standards. We are looking for a confident and experienced architect with a track record of exceptional built work, demonstrated professionalism, and excellence in client relationship management.
Our studio is highly collaborative, and every team member contributes to project design, project delivery, as well as client care. The ideal candidate is a talented technical designer, highly organized, and has an extensive background in public K-12 educational design in California with demonstrated experience working with DSA.
EXPERIENCE
10+ years professional experience.
Accredited degree in Architecture.
Licensed Architect in California. Additional jurisdictions and NCARB Certification a plus.
LEED and/or WELL Accreditation a plus.
REVIT proficiency is required.
Experience in public K-12 education inclusive of DSA and commercial interiors.
Experience with core/ shell, hospitality, and retail a strong plus.
DESIGN/ TECHNICAL DESIGN
Excellent technical and design skills.
Expert knowledge of the California Building Code.
Experience working with DSA regional offices including permitting, construction and project close out.
Experience coordinating with other public agencies and jurisdictions related to planning and building approvals
Experience in consultant coordination and management.
Experience preparing specifications.
Experience in on-site construction administration including coordination with Inspectors of Record.
Experience with programming and space planning.
Experience with materials research and selection.
Experience in construction documentation and detailing.
Experience as the key design decision-maker for projects
Experience leading a team of designers.
Ability to review construction for general conformance with the design concept.
Strong presentation skills.
Experience designing to a construction budget.
Applies rigor and elegance to the resolution and execution of their design ideas.
Experience with the development and maintenance of technical standards.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must currently reside in and have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills.
Candidates must be able to travel to other studios as required.
