RIZ WALKER

Senior Designer

Master’s in Urban Design + Architecture, University of California, Los Angeles, Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.), Architecture, Syracuse University, School of Architecture at Syracuse University, Villa Rossa, Frenze Italia
During her childhood and early professional career, Riz lived in Maine, Vermont, New York and Boston making her a seasoned East Coaster who happily turned into a SoCal resident in 2015 when pursuing her Masters at UCLA. Design has always a part of her life growing up around two creative parents who enforced an explorative environment for her and her brothers to express themselves through various creations. Her first realized architectural designs where various tree forts and debris huts hidden within her family’s 100-acre wooded backyard all lending to her eventual career path in Architecture and Design.
An avid creative designer and thinker, Riz has nearly a decade of design expertise under her belt in which she has teamed up to publish two books, design and curate an exhibit in correlation with a symposium, led various research initiatives, and spearhead assorted graphic data analysis publications. From this diversity, she has become a multi-scale designer and strategist implementing urban design thinking to interior design, specifically workplace interiors and campuses. With a divergent background in workspace, higher education, and urban design, Riz plays a leading role in research-based design and it’s integration into the development and construction of her projects. In conjunction to this she has become a part of the A+D community both locally and nationally speaking on panels and participating in Design Councils for new products and companies like Steelcase and Allsteel.
As the first member of the LA studio, Riz is ecstatic to be a part of the Blitz team and assist in growing the LA practice. Beyond her role as a designer, Riz enjoys jammin’ on her planner, practicing for her mother’s favorite show Chef’s Table, singing in the rain, and hanging out in her backyard (the beach).
