Born and raised in Wuhan, China, Xueyan’s interest in architecture and design sparked when she began reading books in high school on Tadao Ando, a famous, self-taught Japanese architect, and Kenya Hara, a Japanese graphic designer and curator. Growing up around two creative parents, Xueyan was encouraged to learn how to paint and do calligraphy from a young age. Her artistic eye and appreciation for buildings eventually led her to pursue a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Huazhong University in China. In the Summer of 2016, Xueyan made the cross-country move to Los Angeles to pursue her Master’s degree in Architecture from UCLA. Having recently graduated, she is thrilled to kick-start her career in the LA studio and become more involved in the A + D community.
During her free time, Xueyan enjoys shopping at vintage stores or flea markets, working on her vlog, sewing, or playing her ukulele. Outside of work, you’ll most likely catch her at local museums or galleries.
